Working with SM Stella is an absolute joy. She has an incredible eye for detail and composition, bringing a rare combination of playfulness, elegance, and refinement to every project. Her creative intuition makes the process effortless and inspiring. I cannot recommend her highly enough-anyone lucky enough to work with her will walk away with something truly exceptional.

From the moment I saw Stella’s work, I knew I wanted to collaborate with her.
Her classy, understated and historically referenced aesthetic shows through her entire portfolio. From the white equipale patio furniture greeting visitors to the Los Poblanos Spa she designed, to the beautifully woven textures adorning the custom banco in her own adobe home in Tesuque, Stella screams elegance with a whisper. That’s pretty much what it’s like to work with her. Stella will gently toss out an idea or two, and then patiently let it percolate until it becomes obvious to everyone else that that’s what we should do.
When we struggled with our 80’s peachy-pink plaster walls, she introduced us to a local artisan with a limewash-over-plaster technique that allowed us to reinvigorate the whole house without the heavy cost of replastering. When she suggested adding the gorgeous textures and colors of hand-crafted Moroccan rugs, an affordable luxury, it led me and my family on a journey to Marrakech to pay homage to the thousands-year-old Berber weaving techniques, as well as other ancient crafts that we’re incorporating into our home such as tadelakt and zellige tiles.
Great design matters more to Stella than ego. If someone on the team comes up with a good idea, she is quick to acknowledge and incorporate it.
After discovering our mutual admiration for the DeVol kitchens featured on “For the Love of Kitchens” and Instagram, Stella wholeheartedly embraced the idea of working alongside DeVol designers to envision our kitchen dream. It’s hard to say who will be more excited to see those gorgeous cabinets, creamware pendant lights, and copper work surfaces installed!
Stella made the design process fun and gave us the confidence we needed to make big decisions. It has truly been a pleasure to work with her.

Stella jumped right in and hit the ground running; she was instrumental in coordinating the Project. She helped create a team of contractors and helped us pick artisans for custom casework.
She introduced me to printmakers, artists and weavers in town. The light here is so beautiful and is such an important part of the design; we were striving for simplicity and wanted to reflect the colors of the land. The result is a nice reflection of the history of Santa Fe, plus it was beautiful and really personal. No surface was left untouched and Stella was instrumental in all of it.
